The Best Way for Men Over 40 to Lose Weight

For men over 40, losing weight is not just a matter of looking thin. Losing weight and strengthening muscle can mean a longer, happier life for you. Some weight gain is a natural side effect of getting older, but if you are very overweight, it is important to look at your emotional and mental health to address the deeper reasons for your weight gain. In either case, a low-fat and high-fiber diet combined with daily aerobic exercise is your first step to losing weight.

 
Diet

Your key to eating right is eating enough nourishing food that you won't feel famished and binge on empty calorie, high-fat snacks. Eat a hearty, low-fat breakfast to keep you full throughout the day. Use the Mayo Clinic's online food pyramid weight-loss guide. Enter your weight, height and gender, and you will be advised on how many calories you should consume in a day and how many servings to eat from each area of the food pyramid. Use a calorie guide book, like the one in Nancy Goor's book "Choose to Lose Weight-Loss Plan for Men." Goor recommends a high-fiber and low-fat diet not only for weight loss but to lower your risk of coronary diseases. Plan out your meals and portion sizes each day to avoid spontaneous binging or "emotional eating."


Exercise

Include two key elements in your daily exercise routine: at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise and strength training. Aerobic exercise can be any repetitive, rhythmic nonstop movement, from biking to walking. Aerobic exercise is the best way to burn fat and not just stored sugars. Goor recommends walking at least 30 minutes a day because it is easiest on your joints and most effective for fat loss. Jogging is not as effective for fat loss because joggers burn more sugar and less fat than walkers. If you are going to jog or run, make sure you are doing it consistently for at least 30 minutes. Schedule a time every day to do this, whether it's after you brush your teeth in the morning or before you prepare your dinner at night. To ensure mobility in your old age, you also need strength training. If a gym is inaccessible, use elastic bands for resistance or hand-held weights. Increase repetitions and weight amount as you gain strength in your arms and back. Besides your abdominals and leg muscles, you should not work the same muscles two days in a row.


Mental and Emotional Health

If you are unhappy with yourself, your job or your life in general, you may have little motivation to invest in your life such positive changes as eating healthy and losing weight. Just beginning to exercise, you may notice an improvement in our outlook and mood. In his book, "The Irritable Male Syndrome," Jed Diamond writes about how exercising helps melt away irritability and anger, making many men more happy to spend time with their families and enjoy life. Adopt the mindset that eating healthily and exercising is a way to tell yourself that you deserve to be healthy and to live a long, productive life. Psychotherapy along with diet and exercise may help some people with overeating. Yoga is a physical practice that has been shown to help many people with their physical and mental well-being. "Anyone who has ever had his back go out---and that seems to be most of us over 40---knows it's difficult not to feel irritable when that happens...I have found daily yoga stretches to be very helpful."

Sex and Heart Attacks - What a Way to Go?

Nelson Rockefeller died while having sex with his mistress. Even the mighty Attila the Hun fell victim to a heart attack that caused his early demise … on his wedding night no less.


And while people might kid about it being a great way to go, fear of heart attack during sex significantly reduces the amount of sexual activity patients with known heart problems have.

Other than making your heart go “pitter-patter,” what are the cardiac effects of sexual activity?

Volunteers having sex in a laboratory setting have a significant increase in pulse, blood pressure and respiratory rates. In other words, the heart works harder, pretty much along the same level as with a moderate work out.

What’s really interesting is when similar studies are conducted among married couples in their own bedrooms; heart rates don’t increase during sex! In fact, on average, married couples had a LOWER heart rate than recorded during normal daily activities. I actually find it pretty depressing that having sex with your spouse in your own bedroom requires the same amount of exertion as a 2-4 mile per hour stroll on a level surface for a few minutes. That is why studies show that sexual activity is rarely responsible for a myocardial infarction (MI). Risks are even smaller in men and women who are routinely sexually active, and have participated in a regular post-MI exercise program.

This was confirmed by an article that was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association last month. Researchers looked at 14 studies regarding risk of cardiac death during sex. They found that the risk of death was 2.7 times more likely to occur, but ONLY if someone rarely had intercourse or exercised. In fact, engaging in some form of exercise once a week decreased the risk of cardiac death by 45%.


They concluded that the risk of death during sex with your spouse is small, especially if you exercise and/or have sex regularly.


There is another problem associated with sex if you have heart disease. Up to 75% of men and women experience sexual dysfunction after MI. Fear is not exactly an aphrodisiac and it’s hard to relax during sex if you don’t know if you are going to come … or go. If you continue to avoid intimacy due to a fear of dying or having a repeat MI, it may help to have an exercise stress test to assure you that your heart can take it. In general, most cardiologists say you are safe to have sex if you can climb up two flights of stairs without having chest pain or becoming out of breath. Many cardiac rehab programs also have psychologists specifically trained to help you address anxiety regarding resuming your sex life.


Obviously, it’s important to check with your own doctor before initiating exercise or sex after a heart attack, but overall, patients who have no symptoms, have mild, stable angina, controlled hypertension, and do not have exercise-induced ischemia, should feel free to have sex 6-8 weeks post MI with his or her partner or spouse.

 Post MI is not the time to have an affair or join the Mile High Club unless you are willing to suffer the fate of Nelson Rockefeller.

I think that the fitness industry is often dominated by trainers who are super thin and have ever struggled with weight. This can be frustrating for many women who feel that they will never achieve that "perfect" body

I recently received a tip from Debra Mazda ShapelyGirl program. Debra is a normal curve gal and its drives meet average women with an emphasis on being healthy, rather than to be a dummy super slim. It is encouraging to see a more realistic approach.

Anorexic model Dies: when will be the fashionable Get It industry?

Isabelle Caro, a French actress and model, emaciated image is an Italian campaign shock died at the age of 28.

Caro said later interviews, only it weighs approximately 59 pounds when the photos were taken in 2007 by the Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani.

Acquired campaign Caro widespread in the media in the countries of Europe and United States, attention and it is often on her anorexia, efforts to recover and the threat of disordered eating on the fashion industry.

Caro, who allegedly beaten with anorexia since the age of 13, wrote a book published in France, in 2008, entitled "The Little Girl" who did not want to get FAT.

The campaign featuring a Caro skeleton not without controversy, however, many groups support anorexia stating that attention does not render service to those who suffer. Caro image appeared on numerous sites of pro-ana (pro anorexia).

One would hope that a tragedy such as this would send shockwaves through the industry and it jar in a significant action. Despite tragedies and other campaigns shock, however, it appears that many things have changed.

The 2006 related anorexia died of the Brazilian model, efforts led to the international fashion industry to address impacts of ultra-thin models using health, but no action binding follows.

Representatives of the French fashion industry have signed a Charter of Government in 2008, promising not to encourage eating disorders and to promote healthy body images using "a variety of representations of the body", showing not "of the images of people who could help to promote a model of extreme thinness."

Industry leaders from around the world have refused to cooperate.

Writing about it made me feel really sad. Make changes to an industry steeped in a culture of bone-thin is not overnight, but it can only hope that tragic situations like this will change some minds.

Video exposing horrific conditions at last Egg Farm

Earlier this month, based on the Jacksons to Mississippi Cal-Maine Foods Inc., recalled 24 000 dozens of eggs bought Ohio LLC, Crotone, Ohio, eggs from salmonella possible contamination.

After systematic sampling, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified cal-Maine as controlled eggs positive for salmonella, stimulate immediate recall.

And now, a video of the humane society of animals taken by an investigator working farm of cal-Maine Waelder, Texas undercover, reveals rampant animal abuse and violations of food safety.

The video is very graphic. lots of dead birds, overcrowded, covered with blood, Quarterdeck and broken eggs eggs and - as you can see in the screenshot - a dead bird cages, lying on the conveyor belt as egg roll by.

The humane society of animals, said CAL-Maine is the largest producer of eggs in North America and is quoted for prior offences. Cal-Maine has previously 288,000 eggs after FDA salmonella enteritidis on test samples.

Other amazing sites include birds with no tail, tumors on their faces, gnarled feet feathers and rotting corpses mixed with live chickens.

With the release of the video, the animal humane society wishes to inform consumers about factory farming sales limited - err not so little - secrets.

Animal rights is a matter of polarization. The redneck said live animals, eat right. The hippie says meat is murder. Both are silly. Dead is murder, not cows. But you cannot call their animal mute their heap in a stack in the feces, and then think, they are perfectly safe to eat.

Ignore all the that blah-blah-blah for the second. If we go to factory farming livestock, we should do the least work to ensure that our agricultural practices protects consumers against never get sick - animals first, the second human. And, no doubt, if ensure us factory farming to protect human health, the domino effect will also improve the welfare of animals.

Regards cal-Maine, I fire every direction and because their personal pay for needed improvements finance bankruptcy.

Bob Greene is highly respected in the diet and fitness industry and has helped millions of people live healthier, especially with the exhibition presented by The Oprah Winfrey Show and O Magazine.

Coming from a background of mental health, I would argue that some of the concepts of the book are a bit simplistic. Many people have deep emotional problems which prevent them from losing weight, even less to be happy.

The life you want will probably lack the tools and support necessary to assist persons with deeper problems, which may require counseling relationship therapy to see such emotional changes.

Make spinach and olive oil for healthy hearts

Olive oil and leafy green vegetables, cooked spinach and salad green, can help women reduce their risk of heart disease, says a new study.

Olive oil and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, which succeeded in reducing the risk of cardiovascular, hypertension and cancer.

The new study says that a salad with a small base of olive oil vinaigrette can be enough to reduce the risk of heart.

In 2004, the world Organization (who) estimated 17.1 million people died from cardiovascular disease worldwide. Projects WHO number jump 23.6 million people by 2030.

Writing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, scientists tried women consuming at least a portion of vegetables and three tablespoons of oil per day reduces the risk of heart disease by more than 40%.

Expert review of food data on 30,000 women (average age 50) participating in a study by the national health and followed participants for 8 years, underscoring how women developed cardiovascular disease.

Data showed 144 women have heart problems such as heart attacks. But women eat foods such as spinach and lettuce had a lower risk of 46% of heart disease and 44% reduces the risk for women consuming an ounce of olive oil each day.

Researchers believe that the antioxidants in green vegetables and olive oil are the reason for reducing the risk.

In addition to regular exercise and not smoking, Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the U.S. recommends cutting saturated fat and eat more fruits and vegetables to reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Drew Carey weight loss diet

If you've been watching the price is right, would have noticed you that funny guy Drew Carey is a shadow of its former self. More precisely, between January and September 2010, lost 85 pounds. Its alteration included more noticeable 2010 public weight loss stories.

How is that what he did do it?

Different people, Carey dropped carbohydrates:

Ladies, you hate breaking a new pair of jeans? Too sophisticated to wear new a month without laundry pants men do? Then "Pajama Jeans" are for you!

I've just seen television advertising yesterday. They are pants that resembles real jeans, but that baby-soft materials and promise of all sizes - even plus-tailles - without difficulty and rigid taking on new denim deformation.

Wear a Snuggie looks more fashionable for me, but what do you think?

In the following commercial Pajama Jeans. One of these heinous "as in"TV infomercials. Therefore, if its something that dynamited Cat Emery, never even touched my pussy, Pajama Jeans are a big waste of money.

I am not expert mode, I dress like I am homeless. All my jeans have a minimum of three rips and tears. But Pajama Jeans like maternity clothes, and the last time I checked both jeans are elegant and sexy.

Here the other thing, and now some wise advice from my mother. How your clothes adapted, especially your pants is the best gauge for your weight. If you are on the bed, as the daughter of image, fighting for the button of your flight, it is probably time to hit the gym rather than buy flexible-pants.

So ladies, these jeans are a good idea? Pajama Jeans or make your big butt? I know you're all worried about them!
